I'm a life-long snorer. Here's what Mouth Tape actually did for me.

I love sleep.
So much, that if it's not your birthday or wedding, then I'm leaving the event at 7pm sharp to get my shut-eye.
Every night I do my routine: Shower, skincare, crossword in bed with my husband, then BOOM, I am out like a light… but it will be half an hour before hubby gets to get some REM… because of me.
For years I have carried it: The weight of being ‘the snorer’ in the relationship.
The side-eye from my husband whenever I asked how he slept last night, occasionally waking up in bed alone when he had taken a midnight journey to the couch to get some sleep, the rouge foam plug I found in our bed one morning that had fallen out of his ear.
It was becoming evident a change was long overdue.
But how does one stop snoring? I decided to find out.
Googled dished up everything. Anti-snore Mouthpiece? I don't want a big hunk of plastic in my mouth every night. CPAP? I don't have sleep apnoea. Surgery? Absolutely not.
Mouth tape? Hmm. Tell me more.
The one I found was called ‘Moisturizing Mouth Tape’ which can prevent snoring by holding the mouth shut while you sleep, promoting nasal breathing and limiting oral dryness and vibrations. Bonus points from me, because the adhesive is also infused with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, so it hydrates your lips overnight, too. Okay. I'll give it a go. Added to cart.
The first night arrived, and armed with my new bestie for the week, I hit the sack.
As I crawled into bed I saw my husband grab his trusty pair of ear plugs, but “wait” I said, and showed him my recent purchase.
He looked confused, then concerned, then intrigued.
I gave him one last kiss goodnight, placed his ear plugs back on the bedside table, and put on my new pair of lips. He went back to looking concerned. Oh well, lights out.
I woke up the next morning, ready to chug some water like I always do, but two things were different: 1. I couldn't open my mouth to drink (weird at first, normal now), and 2. I didn't even need water because my mouth wasn't dried up. Interesting.
I look over to my left. My husband! Still in the bed! Asleep! With no ear plugs!
I peeled off the mouth tape with ease (and no pain – win!), eager to wake up my husband to confirm that I was no longer, in fact, ‘the snorer’ of our relationship. He confirmed so, delightfully. A little too delightfully…
I continued to use mouth tape for the following week. Every morning I interrogated my husband as to if I had snored the previous night, if I made a peep, if he had a good sleep. “No, no, yes” were his answers every time.
This was excellent.
Mouth Tape was supposed to be something I tried for a week. Needless to say, I will certainly be sticking (haha, get it?) to this change.
If you are the reluctantly named ‘snorer’ of your relationship, I recommend giving mouth tape a go. This brand also does a 31-night money-back guarantee, so if it doesn't stop your snoring, don't worry – you will get your money back.
